Privacy Policy

Marketist is a privacy-first web analytics platform. The data controller is Marketist, operated from Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

We are subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”).

When you create a Marketist account and use the dashboard, we collect:

• Your email address (used for account login and alert notifications)
• Organization name
• Website domains you add to the platform
• Usage data within the dashboard (pages visited, features used) for product improvement

Legal basis: Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — this data is necessary to provide the service you signed up for.

The Marketist tracker embedded on your website collects the following data about your visitors:

• Pages visited and navigation paths
• Browser type and operating system (aggregated)
• Country and city — derived from IP address, which is then immediately discarded. The last octet (IPv4) or last 80 bits (IPv6) are zeroed before any storage.
• Referrer URL (the site a visitor came from)
• UTM campaign parameters
• Click events and scroll depth

The tracker does NOT collect:

• Names, email addresses, or any personal identifiers
• Full IP addresses (anonymized before storage)
• Passwords, payment details, or form field values
• Precise geographic location
• Cross-site tracking data

The tracker respects Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals — when DNT is enabled, tracking is completely disabled. Visitors can also opt out by calling window.marketist.optOut().

• To improve the Marketist product

We never sell data to third parties. We neveruse your data or your visitors' data for advertising or profiling.

• Analytics event data: Retained for the period you configure per website (default: 365 days). Automatically deleted after this period.
• Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
• Backups: Purged within 30 days of account deletion.

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access (Art. 15) — request a copy of your data
• Right to rectification (Art. 16) — correct inaccurate data
• Right to erasure (Art. 17) — delete your account and all data
• Right to data portability (Art. 20) — download your data in machine-readable JSON format
• Right to object (Art. 21) — opt out of any processing
• Right to lodge a complaint — with your national data protection authority

We use the following sub-processors to deliver our service. All are GDPR-compliant and process data under Data Processing Agreements.

Marketist dashboard: Uses one session cookie for authentication only. No tracking or advertising cookies.

Marketist analytics tracker: Sets no cookies by default. Session continuity is maintained using sessionStorage, which is cleared when the browser tab is closed and never persisted across sites.

Because the tracker sets no cookies and collects no PII, it is generally exempt from cookie consent requirements under the ePrivacy Directive in most EU member states.
